Application process
A temporary travel document shall be issued based on your application. Applicants are required to submit their applications to Somalia embassies around the world. If there is no embassy in the country of residence, applicants or their agents are advised to fill the online forms and submit their applications online.
If the application has been made through embassies or consular sections, the Immigration and Naturalization Directorate (IND) shall notify the diplomatic or consular missions of Federal Republic of Somalia abroad of its opinion concerning the issuance of the temporary travel document requested within three working days.
Foreign and Somalia immigration officials are points of departure or entry will be able to verify the authenticity of the documents online.
Eligibility
Temporary Travel Document can be issued if:
- You are Somali national
- You are outside Somalia
- Your passport has been lost, stolen, fully damaged, is full, recently expired
- You do not have time to renew or replace your passport before you travel
- You can provide proof of your emergency travel plans
Requirements
- National identity or passport
- Previous passport or national ID
- Two color photographs
- Proof of flight booking to Somalia
Note: Please note that loss of a passport should be immediately reported to the nearest embassy of the Federal Republic of Somalia

Temporary Travel Document Unit is managed by the Immigration and Naturalization Directorate (IND) of Federal Republic of Somalia. The main objective of this service is to facilitate the Somali nationals around the world to get Temporary Travel Document that can help them return to their home country.
About TTD
Temporary Travel Documents (TTDs) shall be issued by the Immigration and Naturalization Directorate (IND) of Federal Republic of Somalia or consular missions of the Federal Republic of Somalia to Somali citizens who reside abroad but do not hold valid travel documents. You can use a temporary travel document to go back to home country ONLY. If your final destination is Somalia, the Immigration Department at the point of entry will keep your temporary travel document when you arrive.
